Carter Bays about Barney's father (spoiler)

Współtwórca How I Met Your Mother, Carter Bays, rozmawiał na temat nowego gościa w serialu, Johna Lithgowa. Aktor zagra nieznanego ojca Barney'a, Jerome'a Whitaker'a w dwóch odcinkach, zapowiadanych do wyemitowania pod koniec marca.
"Mieliśmy długą listę osób, które mogłyby zagrać tatę Barney'a, a myśl o John'ie Lithgow wydawała się pasująca do roli," zdradził Bays TV Line.
Bays także powiedział, że Lithgow szukał jakiejś komediowej roli po wcieleniu zabójcy w serialu stacji Showtime, Dexter.
"John najwyraźniej chciał zrobić coś, co byłoby niedorzeczne i śmieszne," wyjaśnia. "Całość nie jest aż taka niedorzeczna i śmieszna, ponieważ jest wiele dramatu w tym, ale to jest trochę bardziej jasne i z większą ilością serca."
Zażartował, że są pewne podobieństwa między Trinity'm (bohater z Dextera) a Jerome'm Whitaker'em.

"(Jerome) jest (także) typowo rodzinnym facetem, który mieszka na przedmieściach, ale nie zamierza nago dusić kogoś w wannie," wyjaśnił.

Lithgow po raz pierwszy pojawi się w odcinku z 21. marca.

ENG How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays has praised upcoming guest star John Lithgow.
The actor will play Barney's estranged father Jerome Whitaker in two episodes, expected to air in late March.
"We went down a long list of people we could possibly cast as Barney's dad and as soon as we landed on John Lithgow something about it felt right," Bays told TV Line.
Bays also revealed that Lithgow was actively seeking a comedic part following his role as the Trinity killer on Showtime's Dexter.
"John clearly wanted to do something that was just silly and fun," he explained. "Not that it's all silly and fun because there's a lot of drama to it, but [it's] something lighter and with more heart."
He joked that there are "some similarities" between Trinity and Jerome Whitaker.
"[Jerome] is [also] a family man who lives in the suburbs [but] he's not going to be naked in the bathtub strangling someone," he quipped.
Lithgow will make his first appearance on March 21.
